about
Written in February 2009. For 5 years I played every Friday night at Molly Malone's bar in Wellington until it closed I think due to earthquake strengthening and a downturn in business. Recorded live on 27 April 2012 at Molly Malones in Wellington and re-mixed 8 September 2016.
All instruments and vocal overdubs done by me.
lyrics
Molly Malone
She came from the heart of Dublin
Selling fish from her cart in the street
And her dress cut real low with her breasts heaving so
Sweet Molly she was hard to beat
Now Molly she had a dark secret
She was a lady of the night
Drumming up work with the peasants
Rolling around in the shite
And her dress cut real low with her breasts heaving so
Sweet Molly was looking alright
So we can all go down to Mollys
For a whiskey a wine and a beer
For at Molly Malones its just like coming home
And the Guiness – My goodness!.. is here!
Now Molly she caught the Black Fever
She staggered on back down the street
She died face-down in a bucket of clams
Unable to stand on her feet
And her dress cut real low with her breasts heaving so
Sweet Molly she was hard to beat
So we can all go down to Mollys…
For a whiskey a wine and a beer
For at Molly Malones its just like coming home
And the Guiness – My goodness!.. is here!
Sometimes I think about Molly
The friendliest girl in the street
Roaming the streets in the heavens
Looking for clients to meet
And her dress cut real low with her breasts heaving so
Sweet Molly she was hard to beat
